DIY - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bantul Regency has prepared two water tank fleets to deal with the threat of drought that hit the community as a result of the dry season.

"We have prepared two clean water tanks and we also collaborate with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and the Bantul Social Service Tagana (Dinsos)," said Bantul BPBD Head of Emergency and Logistics Antoni Hutagaol in Bantul, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), Sunday, June 23, confiscated by Antara.

According to him, the two clean water tank fleets were alerted at the Bantul BPBD Main Office to distribute or help drop clean water to people who applied for water assistance due to drought.

However, he said, from other agencies such as PMI Bantul and Tagana Bantul Social Service are also ready to back up clean water distribution with a fleet of water tanks owned if needed by the community.

"For the budget prepared to face the dry season or the drop in clean water this year, it is Rp. 21.3 million or approximately 426 tanks. However, until now there has been no application for dropping clean water from the community," he said.

He further said that this year's dry season has been experienced by the Bantul Regency since June and will enter the dry peak season in August, so the threat of drought needs to be watched out for.

"Then for September it is estimated that the rainy season will enter. However, this year's dry season tends to be wet, because the impact of La Nina is weak," he said.

Thus, said Antoni, during the dry season in Bantul this year there is still the potential for rain, although not so heavy. This condition, according to him, was not like the dry season of the previous year.

"According to the forecast of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), this year's drought may not be like last year," he said.
