If Coalition Promotes Anies, PKS-PDIP Is Considered To Be Rebuttal To The Position Of Cawagub Jakarta

Political observer Adi Prayitno assesses that there are opportunities for PKS and PDIP to form a coalition in carrying Anies Baswedan as a candidate for governor of DKI Jakarta in the 2024 Pilkada.

However, Adi predicts that there will be a tug-of-war between the two parties in seizing the position of deputy governor accompanying Anies.

This is because, in the 2024 DKI Jakarta DPRD Legislative Election, PKS is the party with the highest number of seats. Meanwhile, PDIP is still in second place in the number of candidates for DKI DPRD members who passed this year's parliament.

"If PKS carries Anies Baswedan, of course, their cadres must be a companion. The complexity is that the PDIP may also offer its cadres," Adi told reporters, Friday, June 21.

"So, in that contest the position of who is Anies' companion will be an attractive and contested attraction between PKS maybe and PDIP," he continued.

Then, regarding who will be chosen as Anies cawagub, Adi said there were a number of considerations. Namely who can cover the shortcomings and increase Anies' electability in Jakarta.

Adi assessed that PDIP is more favored when considering Anies' needs. This is because PDIP is a nationalist party. Meanwhile, Anies and PKS voters slices are similar.

"There is an assumption that if PDIP is chosen, nationalist groups are like that, minority groups will certainly very likely be solid and become part of Anies' voters and candidates from the PDIP later," Adi explained.

However, there are challenges if Cawagub Anies comes from PDIP. There are concerns that their voters will harden each other and not match each other, right there is the main test.

"That's a challenge if you choose PDIP. But on paper, the combination of Islam and nationalist anies and PDIP is much superior compared to others," he explained.
