The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) team of the Magelang City Police, Central Java, has succeeded in uncovering a case of dumping a baby in a temporary garbage dump in North Magelang, Magelang City. "Within five hours of discovery, the suspect was identified and is currently undergoing intensive examination," said Magelang City Police Chief, AKBP Herlina in Magelang, Antara, Thursday, June 20. The suspect with the initials SYK (20), a student in Central Java, is currently undergoing psychiatric observations at the Mental Hospital. "SYK is undergoing observation at a mental hospital and we have secured some evidence in this case," he said. The baby disposal incident occurred on May 30, 2024, at a temporary waste disposal site in Kluyon Village, North Kramat Village, North Magelang District, Magelang City. SYK is suspected of Article 80 paragraphs (3) and (4) in conjunction with Article 76C of Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection, as well as Article 341 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of seven years in prison. The chronology of the incident began when the janitor found a black plastic package that was taped while cleaning the location. When it opened, it turned out that the package contained a lifeless baby girl. The cleaning staff immediately reported these findings to Bhabinkamtibmas and the Magelang City Police Team to immediately conduct a crime scene investigation. Based on the medical examination, it was discovered that the baby girl had died. At the scene of the incident, several pieces of cloth and trousers were found which allegedly belonged to the suspect.
