Slogan 'Hajj Friendly For The Elderly' Is Not Maximum

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar stated that the tagline or friendly Hajj slogan for the elderly or the elderly has not been maximized in field implementation.

"The elderly should not only be a campaign, but must really be implemented," said Muhaimin in a written statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, June 18.

Muhaimin, who is also the Head of the Indonesian House of Representatives' Hajj Supervisory Team, made a surprise inspection of Indonesian Hajj tents in Mina.

During his visit, Muhaimin expressed his various concerns about the condition of the tents and facilities that were considered inadequate, especially in terms of the tagline "Land-Friendly Hajj".

"I found that the elderly friendly facilities for toilets and toilets (bathing, washing, toilets) were still not adequate. Indeed, there is a bathroom for people with disabilities, but the number is very small and not proportional to the ratio of the elderly and disabled pilgrims," he asserted.

According to him, the bathroom ratio must be recalculated based on the number of elderly and disabled who must be facilitated. In fact, most importantly, the taps of its own ablution must also be provided.

"Every meeting with the Ministry of Religion, the DPR always asks the government not to be dictated by the company. The government must dictate so that we can choose a proper place because our numbers are large and our positions are strong," he said.

Muhaimin also called for a revolution in organizing the hajj. A total improvement must be made so that the alarming condition does not happen again.

"The evolution of handling Hajj starts here, we will completely fix it," he said.

Muhaimin hopes that the new government will really see this fact and not silence and repeat the same problems every year.

During the inspection, Muhaimin hoped that the findings of the DPR's Hajjwas Team could immediately be followed up by related parties to improve the comfort and welfare of Indonesian pilgrims in the future.
