Deputy Chairperson Of The MPR, Yandri Susanto Assessed There Is No Need For A Special Committee For Hajj Evaluation

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly Yandri Susanto assessed that the evaluation effort to improve the implementation of the Hajj held by the Ministry of Religion was sufficient to be discussed at the Commission Working Meeting or the Hajj Working Committee (Panja) at the DPR RI.

Therefore, Yandri assessed that the formation of a special committee (pansus) to evaluate the implementation of the hajj based on the findings of the problem by the DPR RI Hajj Supervisory Team (Timwas) was not needed. "There is no need to form a special committee to address the findings of the DPR Hajj Team," said Yandri in his official statement received in Jakarta, Tuesday. According to him, one of the findings that was related to food raw materials originating from Thailand. With more than 240 thousand pilgrims from Indonesia, he said that food raw materials should have come from within the country. He said that the initiation of food raw materials from Indonesia had begun when he became Chairman of Commission VIII in 2019-2022. The realization, he said, was that the export core for the fulfillment of raw materials from Indonesia had been opened by the Minister of Trade. "Currently, it remains only to maximize national businesses to prepare food raw materials needed by pilgrims," he said. However, if the raw materials from the homeland are not yet available, he assesses that the organizers must continue to provide consumption for the congregation even though the raw materials come from other countries. Previously, the Chairperson of the DPR RI Puan Maharani stated that her party was preparing a special committee (pansus) to evaluate the implementation of the 2024 Hajj Service.
