Prevent Queues, Istiqlal Mosque Doesn't Distribute Sacrificial Meat On The Spot

JAKARTA - Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque Nasaruddin Umar said the Istiqlal Mosque distributed sacrificial meat on the spot.

"There is no open distribution here. We are proactive in distributing to all stakeholders fostered by Istiqlal," Nasarudin said as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, June 16.

He explained that this was to prevent queues for recipients of sacrificial meat.

"So people don't come here," he said.

Nasarudin added that some sacrificial animals would also be sent directly to several places where the Istiqlal Mosque was built to be slaughtered at the recipient's place.

"They (the recipients) also want to witness the cuts in their own place, so that they are more noisy. The important thing is that they are sterile there," said Nasaruddin Umar.

The sacrificial animals that were received by the Istiqlal Mosque on Sunday reached 45 cows and 12 goats.

President Joko Widodo, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, and Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto each left one cow to the Istiqlal Mosque.

"It is still hoped that it will increase because of our slaughter (of sacrificial animals) until tasyrik day," he said.
