Anies On The Figure Of His Cawagub: Not Discussed At All, No Speculation

JAKARTA - Anies Baswedan admits that he has not thought about who will be the candidate for the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta pair in the upcoming 2024 Pilkada, although he has now officially announced his plan to run again as a candidate for governor of DKI.

According to Anies, there is still enough time to work on the names that will be paired with him before the nomination period to the KPU in August.

"All names referred to as potential couples have not been discussed at all. So there is no need to speculate on discussing the names of anyone, because they have not been discussed," said Anies when met in the Pondok Indah area, South Jakarta, Friday, June 14.

Anies also did not want to comment further on the issue of himself being paired with PSI General Chair Kaesang Pangarep in the Jakarta regional elections.

Instead of discussing who his cawagub is, the former governor of DKI Jakarta sees it as better for him to highlight the problems experienced by residents. One of them is the polemic of former Bayam Village residents who have not yet been given access to housing in Kampung Susun Bayam.

"In my opinion, it is not yet and it is not important to discuss the current name. It is important to discuss things like this, spinach Village, because the discussion phase (cawagub) will be premature today. So, the names A, B, C, D, E are offered, there is no need to be a crowd," explained Anies.

On Wednesday, June 12, the DKI Jakarta PKB Regional Leadership Council (DPW) officially supported Anies to be promoted as a candidate for the Governor of DKI Jakarta. DKI DPW believes PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar will approve it.

Then, there is the opportunity for Anies to be paired with Kaesang Pangarep in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada. Kaesang aendiri has not yet decided whether he will run in the regional head election contestation.

However, if it was carried in the Jakarta Pilkada, Kaesang admitted that he preferred to be paired with Anies Baswedang rather than Ridwan Kamil (RK). According to him, Anies' electability is currently higher.

"I can't do this yet, I haven't been nominated yet. For example, if you look at the survey, it's the most realistic with Mr. Anies," said Kaesang when met in Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, Friday, June 14.

However, the youngest son of President Joko Widodo assessed that the performance of the former Governor of DKI Jakarta and the former Governor of West Java were equally qualified to lead the region.

"Everything is good, all of them are great people. Mr. Anies yesterday was also one of the presidential candidates. I like to watch, first, Anies' insistence is also good. Mr. RK is also quite good, taking part in West Java, everything is good. No problem," explained Kaesang.
