Gerindra Disposal Of The Anies-Ahok Duet Discourse To 'Finish' In The Jakarta Regional Head Election

JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party respects the steps taken by the DKI Jakarta PKB DPW which officially carries Anies Baswedan as a candidate for governor in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. Not worried, Gerindra actually suggested Anies in a duet with his rivals in the 2016 Jakarta gubernatorial election, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok). "We respect any party supporting anyone, there is no problem. In fact, if Anies advances, I think especially if you are a duet with Ahok, for example, I think it will be finished," said Gerindra Deputy Head Habiburokhman at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, June 13. According to him, if Anies is paired with Ahok, it is certain that his challenger will win the Jakarta gubernatorial election. Therefore, Gerindra will look for strong opponents, for example supporting former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil. "God willing, we will win the challenge, God willing, we will win if we look for strong candidates like Mr. RK," he said. "Why? Because the people of Jakarta always want a new one, always want people not to get involved in old problems. Anies also lost during the presidential election in Jakarta even though he was the governor, even if he lost narrowly, lost, still lost," continued the East Jakarta electoral district legislator.

However, when asked about the opportunity for Anies to pair up with President Jokowi's youngest son who is also PSI General Chair, Kaesang Pangarep, Habiburokhman had little comment. "We'll see," he concluded.
