Bogor City Has A New Cemetery Regulation, Removes Retribution

BOGOR - Bogor City DPRD together with the Bogor City Government approved the Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) concerning Amendments to Regional Regulation (Perda) number 6 of 2002 concerning Funeral to become a Regional Regulation on the Implementation of Funerals. This was done at a plenary meeting held on Monday.

The chairman of the Special Committee Team, Gilang Gugum Gumelar, said in a plenary meeting that based on the results of the facilitation of the Regional Office of Law and Human Rights of West Java Province and in a joint agreement with the Special Committee of the Bogor City DPRD in a working meeting, the Regional Regulation number 6 of 2002 concerning Funerals was replaced with a new Raperda, namely the Bogor City Raperda on the Implementation of Funerals.

This Raperda is prepared with the consideration that the Regional Government is obliged to guarantee the protection of progress, enforcement and fulfillment of human rights, including the right of everyone to be buried properly and also in line with the increasing population and growth of the residential environment.

"For Regional Regulation Number 6 of 2002 concerning Funerals, we ask to be revoked after the Bogor City Raperda regarding the Implementation of Funerals is ratified as a Regional Regulation. And also so that a Mayor Regulation is immediately issued regarding the issuance of a special burial Location (Penlok)," said Gilang.

Furthermore, Gilang also conveyed that there were several substance things that had been stated in the Raperda regarding the Implementation of Funerals. So he hopes that what has been done by the Bogor City DPRD together with the Bogor City Government can provide benefits for the people of Bogor City.

"We hope that what we have done can provide benefits for the people of Bogor City," he concluded.

At the same location, the Acting Mayor of Bogor, Hery Antasari, expressed his gratitude to the leadership and members of the DPRD who have approved the Bogor City Raperda on the Implementation of Funerals.

To the participants of the plenary meeting, he hoped that with this Regional Regulation on Funeral, it could become a legal basis for organizing funerals in Bogor City, as regulated in Law no. 1 of 2022 concerning Financial Relations between the Central Government and the Regional Government that funeral services are not part of the retribution object, in other words, funeral levies are no longer collected.

"In the future, how the burial area is not a scary thing but as a comfortable place equipped with a garden, the realization of the availability of burial places according to the plan for the spatial planning of the city of Bogor. This Raperda is also expected to ensure that the funeral provided is biased to meet the needs of the community," he concluded.

With the report submitted from the Special Committee team and the response from the Acting Mayor, the leadership of the plenary meeting, Deputy Chair I of the Bogor City DPRD, Jenal Mutaqin, officially approved the ratification of the Raperda regarding the Implementation of Funerals as a Regional Regulation for the Implementation of Funerals.

In this case, he also asked the Bogor City Government to immediately follow up according to the records submitted by the Bogor City DPRD Special Committee team.

"With the approval of all members of the Bogor City DPRD, I hereby ratify the Bogor City Raperda on the Implementation of Funerals," he concluded.
