No Political Dowry Participates In The Selection Of North Sumatra Cagub To PKB, Edy Rahmayadi: The Proof I Don't Bring A Wallet

JAKARTA - Former Governor of North Sumatra, Edy Rahmayadi, emphasized that there was no political dowry when he participated in the selection to become a candidate for Governor of North Sumatra (North Sumatra) to the National Awakening Party (PKB). "There is no (political map). The proof is that I didn't come here with a wallet," said Edy after undergoing a fit and proper test (UKK) for the candidate for Governor of North Sumatra at the PKB DPP Office, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, June 11. Edy also claimed that he did not have an agreement regarding the costs he had to deposit if PKB later chose him to be promoted as the North Sumatra cagub. "It's definitely not there. We're not talking about it. It's worth talking about whether or not to be governor," he said. While undergoing the UKK, Edy explained the vision and mission that he would carry out if he was elected governor of North Sumatra in his second term. Based on his experience of leading North Sumatra in 2018-2023, Edy described the work programs needed by his community, ranging from education, health, infrastructure, agrarianism, to tourism. Edy also claimed that his vision and mission had a positive impact on the good name of PKB if he brought it in the 2024 Pilkada. "What is certain is that the vision and mission that is asked is how the constitution will be for PKB if it becomes governor. It must be a good answer. This must be raising PKB, right," explained Edy. Apart from PKB, Edy had previously registered as a cagub of North Sumatra to a number of other parties, including PKS, PDIP, Democrats, NasDem, and Hanura. Before Edy, Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution also participated in the UKK as the North Sumatra cagub to PKB on June 4. Thus, Edy and President Joko Widodo's son-in-law are currently fighting for the recommendation of the nomination of the party led by Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin).

In the UKK process, the PKB Pilkada Decree asked the sub-district heads to convey their vision and mission regarding regional development. The regional head was also asked to convey the winning strategy to be pursued in order to win the Pilkada contestation. The requirements to support a candidate pair at least have 20 seats in the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) of North Sumatra. PKB itself has four seats in the North Sumatra DPRD.
