The Aceh Besar Prosecutor's Office Executes 3 Gamblers

BANDA ACEH - The public prosecutor of the Aceh Besar District Attorney's Office (Kejari) executed caning of three convicts of violations of Islamic law based on the decision of the Aceh Besar Shariyah Court.

The caning was carried out in the courtyard of the Al Munawwarah Grand Mosque, Jantho, Aceh Besar District, Friday, which took place in front of Friday prayers.

Head of the General Crime Section of the Aceh Besar District Attorney's Office, Rifai Affandi, said that the caning was the implementation of the sharia court's decision which already had permanent legal force or inkrah.

"There were three convicts who were sentenced to caning. The three were found guilty of violating Aceh Qanun Number 6 of 2014 concerning the jinayat law," said Rifai Affandi as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 7.

The three convicts, namely M Afzal, were sentenced to a case of extortion or gambling. Convict M Afzal was sentenced to 10 lashes and sentenced to four months in prison or four lashes.

As well as the convict Nurlaila was sentenced to four lashes for two lashes in prison and the convict Muzakkir was sentenced to five lashes with two lashes in prison. Both were convicted in a calwat case.

"Actually, there were five convicts who were sentenced to caning today. However, two of the convicts were sick based on the doctor's statement, so only three were executed," said Rifai Affandi.

The two convicts who were canceled were Irwan Ak and Aida Wahyuni. The two convicts were in the calwat case. The second stated that they were sick based on a doctor's certificate in Bener Meriah Regency.

"We carried out the execution of the caning of these two crimes after their condition was healthy. We also reminded them not to be absent from serving caning because it was a court or court decision," said Rifai Affandi.
