JAKARTA - Komnas HAM has asked for information from 27 people as a follow-up to the complaint submitted by Vina and Saka Tatal's attorneys to the institution.

Vina was a murder victim with her male friend, Eky, in Cirebon, West Java, in 2016.

Meanwhile, Saka Tatal is one of the perpetrators of Vina's free murder. Saka admitted to getting torture from the police to admit a criminal act.

"Conducting information requests for 27 people in the Bandung and Cirebon areas, including the convicts of the murder of Eky and Vina at the Class I Detention Center in Bandung and Class II Bandung Prison, the convict's family in Cirebon, the convict's attorney in Bandung and Cirebon, the Vina family in Cirebon, and Vina's attorney," said Komnas HAM Enforcement Sub-Commission Coordinator Uli Parulian Sihombing as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 6.

In addition to asking for information, he continued, Komnas HAM has also taken two other steps during the monitoring and investigation process from May 29, 2024 to May 31, 2024, namely asking for information from the Ditreskrimum and Itwasda of the West Java Police and reviewing the location where the murder of Eky and Vina occurred in Cirebon.

Komnas HAM gave its appreciation to the Inspectorate of Police and the ranks of the West Java Regional Police who have helped facilitate the institution in its investigation.

"Because it has given access to Komnas HAM to be able to ask for direct information from the convicts of the murder of Vina and Eky who are currently being held at the Class I Detention Center in Bandung and Class II Prison in Bandung," he said.

In addition, Komnas HAM also appreciates the families of the victims and their attorneys, the convicts and their attorneys, and other parties who have provided information to the institution.

"Komnas HAM will continue to request information and collect valid evidence in order to collect further facts," he concluded.

This case resurfaced after a film entitled Vina: Before 7 Days received public attention because the case still leaves three suspects who have not been caught.

On May 21, 2024, the West Java Police had arrested the masterminds of the murder cases of Vina and Eky, namely the suspect Pegi Setiawan alias Perong.

The Director of General Crimes at the West Java Police, Kombes Surawan, said that only Pegi Setiawan had been a DPO so far. This is based on the results of his investigation.

Kombes Surawan said it was possible that there were other suspects outside of them who had been arrested. In this case, investigators are ready to re-investigate.
