Israel's Military Northern Command Ready To Face Potential War With Hezbollah

JAKARTA - Head of Israel's Northern Command Defense Forces (IDF) Major General Ori Gordin said in a ceremony to commemorate the 18th anniversary of the Second Lebanese War, the military is ready to face the Hezbollah militant group once again.

"Hezbollah has suffered a heavy blow. About 420 militants and senior operators have been eliminated. The terror infrastructure that has been built over the years has been destroyed and attacked every day," he said.

"We have been doing this for eight months, with the understanding that this time too, like 18 years ago, we have no choice but to continue fighting, together, until the mission is complete," he continued.

It is known that Iran-backed Hezbollah has been shooting each other with Israel over the past eight months, along with the role in Gaza, raising fears of the spread of conflict in the Middle East.

Israel's latest and Hezbollah conflicts have been the worst since the 2006 war, leaving tens of thousands of people on both sides of the border forced to flee.

"Last week we completed preparations for attacks in the north. I met forces and commanders, they trained and were determined. I believe they will be able to face any task against the terror organization Hezbollah. We are ready and ready, and when we are ordered, the enemy will meet with strong and ready troops," explained Major General Gordin.

"We will not rest for a moment and will continue to fight with strength and common sense, until the task is complete, restoring security and a sense of security in the north. This responsibility is clear and on our shoulders," he added.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a visit to Kiryat Shmona on the border with Lebanon said Israel was ready to take firm action in the northern region of his country, as tensions on the Lebanese border escalated.

"Anyone who thinks can hurt us and we'll just sit still, have made a big mistake," said Prime Minister Netanyahu.

During the visit, PM Netanyahu met with IDF troops from Brigade 769 to discuss operations against Hezbollah.
