NUNUKAN - Nunukan Regional General Hospital (RSUD), North Kalimantan (Kaltara), is in danger of going bankrupt.

The reason is, this state-owned hospital has accumulated debt and is unable to bear the usual hospital operations normally so that it has an impact on community services in Nunukan Regency.

Responding to this, the chairman of the Nunukan DPRD, Rahma Lappa, was furious to know the condition at the Nunukan Hospital.

"Although the hospital should not lack medicine," he said.

He also questioned the management of the hospital to convey the reason transparently without having to be covered up.

"All of us present at the hearing activity want to hear the reasons or information from the RSUD Management, why convey it transparently without having to be covered up," he said.

Secretary of the Nunukan Hospital, HM Saleh explained, Nunukan Hospital currently still has debts from vendors that have not been paid. The debt has not been paid since 2021, 2022, and 2023.

Currently, there are other debts, such as buildings, office equipment, BMHP, BHP and others so that the total reaches IDR 42,287,779,060 with details in 2021 IDR 3.5 billion, 2022 IDR 8 billion and in 2023 IDR 30.7 billion.

Until the end of May 2024, the debt can only be paid Rp. 17,317,596,362 so that the remaining debt is Rp. 24,970,182,698.

According to him, the most urgent thing and must be paid in the near future, around Rp. 7.2 billion, both to vendors providing medicines, PMI, and oxygen providers.

"We received information that vendors will not supply requests for medical needs if the previous debt is not paid, as well as PMI and oxygen providers. They will not display the needs of the hospital if the debt is not paid immediately," said HM Saleh.

Hearing the explanation from the management of the RSUD, the chairman of the DPRD, and the members of the DPRD who attended were surprised, because they only found out that so far the RSUD had debts to third parties.

"Why is it only now that these debts have been raised that have occurred since 2021 until now, even though it is certain that every year the RSUD Management always has a meeting to discuss work programs including budgets, with Commission III and Banggar DPRD," said Rahma Lappa.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Health Service who is also a Member of the Management Council of the Nunukan Miskia Hospital was also surprised and surprised, because so far the reports received from the management of the RSUD related to BLUD management have always been balanced, and there is no visible debt that has accumulated for three years.

"As the new Council, we also received information about the accumulation of debt, so far the reports we have received are always Balance in the management of receipts and financial expenditures at the Nunukan Hospital," he explained.

In 2024, the management of hospital management is inhabited by new faces, and almost all old management has changed.

"We appreciate the current management which is better than before because it wants to be transparent and open in terms of financial management at this hospital," he added.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Commission III of the Nunukan DPRD, Hamsing, asked the local government to immediately find a solution to fix the scarcity of drugs that occurred at the Nunukan Hospital and became a hot topic in the RDP this time.

"The point is that we at the DPRD want it to be handled immediately and fix whatever is the problem," he said.
