Police Dismantle Illegal Alcohol Factory In Pakis Malang, The Mode Is Pretending To Be A Candy Factory

Malang Resort Police dismantled an illegal liquor manufacturing factory operating in the Pakis District, Malang Regency, East Java, which pretended to be a candy factory.

Malang Police Deputy Commissioner Imam Mustorih said the disclosure made by the Malang Police Narcotics Investigation Unit stemmed from public information to the police. "Based on information from the public, there were people who circulated and carried out the activities of the production of trobas type liquor in Genitri Hamlet, Kedungrejo Village," said Imam as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 6. Armed with this information, the Malang Police Narcotics Unit conducted an investigation and collected additional information at a place located on Jalan Raya Kedungrejo Number 81. After the Malang Police Satresnarkoba personnel confirmed that the information from the community was correct, the team then carried out raids and arrested one suspect with the initials MR (48) who produced the illegal liquor. "One suspect was arrested with the initials MR on June 3, 2024. The personnel then conducted a search and confiscated a number of evidences," he said. The suspect's motive, a resident of Kedungkandang District, Malang City, was to benefit from the production of illegal liquor. The suspect pocketed profits ranging from Rp. 3 million to Rp. 4 million per month. The suspect's motive is for profit. One large bottle is sold at a price of Rp45 thousand. The profit per month ranges from Rp. 3 million to Rp. 4 million," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Malang Police Narcotics Unit, AKPAditya Permana, explained that the illegal liquor factory had been operating for 1.5 years. The building used by the suspect to produce illegal liquor was rented from local residents. The suspect tricked residents by saying that the factory produced a regulation. "When renting the building, the permit is for a candy manufacturing factory so that neighbors on the right and left do not know that the perpetrators produce illegal liquor," he said. Article 204 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 8 paragraph (1) letter a of Law 1999 concerning Consumer Protection or Article 140 in conjunction with Article 86 paragraph (2) of Law Number 18/2012 concerning Food. The suspect faces a maximum prison sentence of 15 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 10 billion.
