Bali Police Investigate Scarcity Of Elpiji Gas To Alleged Coupling

DENPASAR - Bali Regional Police are investigating the scarcity of LPG gas and allegations of mixing that are widely discussed by residents on social media.

"Regarding the rumors of mixing, resulting in the scarcity of 3 kg subsidized LPG in Bali, we continue to investigate," said Head of Huas Bali Police Kombes Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, Wednesday, June 5.

This was said by Jansen in response to the information conveyed by the Balinese people on various social media platforms. One of the Balinese residents, Wayan Setyawan, through the tiktok account @pelangidewata10 uploaded the scarcity of LPG gas and allegations of mixing by individuals in the local area.

In the account, Setyawan uploaded a video showing two places suspected of massively mixing 3 kilograms of LPG gas.

The two locations are mentioned in Mengwi District, Badung Regency.

In fact, Wayan Setyawan asked people who watched his tiktok to distribute the video to get the attention of law enforcers. He also challenged the Bali Police to come to the mentioned location and he himself offered to take the police to the LPG gas polling location for 3 kilograms.

Jansen emphasized that his party will take firm action against the public and officials involved in mixing gas and ask the public to actively report to the Bali Police if they find allegations of mixing LPG gas.

"The Bali Police will take firm action against anyone who is seeking profit and is proven to have mixed 3 kg of subsidized gas, and we ask the public to jointly supervise and report if they know of abuse so that we can carry out legal proceedings," Jansen said as quoted by ANTARA.

Jansen explained, according to the results of the coordination of Sub-Directorate IV of the Bali Police Ditreskrimsus with the Brand Manager of PT. Pertamina (Persero) Denpasar on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, the scarcity of 3 kg LPG gas is suspected to be due to two long weekends and the WWF Summit in Bali, so that the need for LPG gas automatically increases.

To anticipate the misappropriation of LPG gas, he said, the government has imposed the regulations of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 37.K/MC.01/MEM.M/2023 and the Director General of Oil and Gas Decree No.99.K/MC.05/DJM/2023, regarding the provisions for the purchase of 3 Kg LPG gas, which aims to ensure that subsidies are right on target only for underprivileged communities and are required for people who have entered KTP and KK data in systems that have been prepared at bases for LPG 3 kg gas buyers.
