JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will look for the party hiding their fugitive Harun Masiku. The former PDIP candidate who bribed KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan was suspected of being fugitive because he received help from other people.

Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said the search for those who hid Harun was carried out by summoning a number of witnesses. Among them are advocates named Simon Petrus to students Hugo Double.

"Investigating almost everything is the same as the information that the KPK received regarding the whereabouts of Harun Masiku, who is suspected of being a security party," Ali told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, June 4.

"So we continue to explore further," he said.

Even in investigating the party suspected of hiding Harun Masiku, investigators plan to summon PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto. He said this examination would be carried out next week even though the summons had not yet been sent.

"Information from the investigators concerned may be summoned next week, yes, but indeed we have not confirmed the time back and whether the summons has been sent or not. But it has been scheduled," Ali explained.

Ali ensured that Hasto Kristiyanto's presence was needed to investigate Harun's whereabouts. Investigators don't just make calls for no reason

"If there is a need (for inspection, ed) we will definitely inform you of the progress," he said.

As previously reported, Harun Masiku is a suspect in giving bribes to former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan. This gift was given so that he could sit as a member of the DPR through interim shifts (PAW).

He has been on the wanted list (DPO) since January 29, 2020. Most recently, the KPK informed that the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol Indonesia had issued a red notice on behalf of Harun Masiku on Friday, July 30, 2023.

The anti-corruption commission promised to continue to search for the fugitive as long as there was no record of death. This statement was made by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Johanis Tanak.

"Administratively, according to the provisions of the Population Law, if someone dies, it is recorded, reported to the population. Yes, right," Johanis told reporters as quoted on the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Thursday, January 19.

"If the population is formally absent, it means that it is not dead. It is still alive and will still be sought, that is according to the population law," he concluded.
