Burglars Of Government Banks In Semarang Sued 9 Years 8 Months In Prison

The public prosecutor charged Anggoro Bagus Pamuji, a defendant in a case of alleged burglary of a bank belonging to the local government, a sentence of 9 years and 8 months for a criminal act of corruption that cost the state up to Rp7.7 billion.

Public Prosecutor Jehan NA at the trial at the Semarang Corruption Court, also demanded that the defendant who is the former Head of the Marketing Unit of a local government bank in Semarang City to pay a fine of Rp. 500 million which if not paid will be replaced with imprisonment for 6 months.

"To declare the defendant guilty of violating Article 2 paragraph 1 of Law Number 31 of 1999 which has been amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 3.

The Central Java Representative Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) recorded state losses due to corruption that occurred in the period 2019 to 2021 which reached Rp7.7 billion.

The modus operandi of the defendant in his actions, among others, was through irregularities in credit repayment deposits amounting to Rp3.8 billion, irregularities in insurance claims amounting to Rp773 million, and fictitious credit disbursement of Rp3 billion.

In their consideration, the prosecutor assessed that the defendant's actions had resulted in state losses.

"The defendant's actions are contrary to the government's efforts to eradicate corruption," he said.

The prosecutor also charged the defendant with additional punishment in the form of paying compensation for state financial losses amounting to Rp7.7 billion, which if not paid would be replaced with imprisonment for 4 years and 10 months.

Based on these demands, the judge gave the defendant the opportunity to present his defense at the upcoming trial.
