Two forgers of documents in Setiabudi, South Jakarta were arrested by the police after receiving reports from the public regarding the circulation of fake SIMs, diplomas and other important documents.

Setiabudi Metro Police Chief, Kompol Firman said two people had been named suspects, namely TN (32) and PRA (21) who were arrested on Friday, May 17.

"We have arrested two perpetrators in connection with the alleged case of forgery of SIM documents and diplomas," Firman told reporters at the Setiabudi Police, South Jakarta, Tuesday, May 28.

Firman explained, starting from a public report regarding the circulation of fake SIMs through Facebook in the Setiabudi area. Upon the report, his party moved quickly to carry out an investigation until he finally caught the perpetrator.

Based on the confessions of the two suspects, their modus operandi is to offer services on social media.

"The modus operandi is that the suspects TN and PRA made fake documents in the form of SIMs, ID cards, marriage books, and diplomas, initially the TN actors installed advertisements on their Facebook accounts," he said.

When someone ordered, the two perpetrators communicated via WhatsApp. Orders then send identity data and photos for document creation.

"Payment through transfer belongs to the account of the perpetrator TN. Next, the perpetrator processed the document according to the order. Then the driver's license and ID card were printed using a computer belonging to the TN," said Firman.

"Meanwhile, the perpetrator's diploma and marriage book were printed by the perpetrator elsewhere, at the photocopy site, then the fake order document was sent via Gosend or JNE to the customer's address," he added.

For the tariff for making this fake document, Firman continued, they set prices varying, ranging from Rp. 250,000 to Rp. 1 million. They have been doing this since August 2023.

"TN plays a role in providing tools, editing, and printing fake documents, receiving paid money, sending documents to the customer via Gosend and JNT. The role of PRA is to edit fake documents before they are printed," said Firman.

The two suspects were charged with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code with a maximum sentence of six years in prison.
