JAKARTA - Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) admitted that he received a special assignment from the Chairperson of the PDI-P (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri in the 2024 Pilkada.
Megawati assigned Ahok to help win PDIP cadres who would later be promoted as candidates for regional head in the regional elections.
"In the discussion with Mrs. (Megawati) it was to help friends who (progress) in the regional elections," said Ahok when met at the PDIP V National Working Meeting, Ancol, North Jakarta, Sunday, May 26.
To Ahok, Megawati asked the former Governor of DKI Jakarta to join the blusukan to meet the community, to accommodate their aspirations to be outlined in future government policies.
"Maybe you want me to go around to make sure there are no people who have problems, ask for a solution, ask for help, that's not the case. That's all I know," he said.
Meanwhile, Ahok emphasized that there has been no discussion with Megawati regarding her candidacy for the 2024 Pilkada.
"My mother and I never talked about (consisting in) the regional elections. Just talking about helping friends," said Ahok.
On the one hand, Ahok appreciates that he has the support of the North Sumatra Province PDIP DPD (North Sumatra) to run in the gubernatorial election (Pilgub). However, he did not want to speculate much because it all depends on party assignments.
"Yes, we thank you, friends from the North Sumatra DPD asked there. But we decided everything, not us. Just wait for the task," explained Ahok.
