AGAM - Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) Tirta Antokan, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, requires Rp13.68 billion in funds to handle facilities damaged after the flood disaster that hit the area on May 11.

"We need funds to repair damaged supporting facilities," said PDAM Director Tirta Antokan Agam Wahyu Tanaka in Lubuk Basung, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, May 25.

He said the Rp13.68 billion fund was to repair five units of the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM).

The five SPAMs are located in the Pua River, Sungai Pua District with heavily damaged conditions with funds of Rp3.78 billion and SPAM Nagari or Cangkiang Village, Ampek Angkek District, heavily damaged with funds of Rp1.94 billion.

Meanwhile, SPAM Baso, Baso District, was heavily damaged with funds of Rp. 2.66 billion, SPAM Lubuk Basung, Lubuk Basung District was heavily damaged with funds of Rp. 2.73 billion and SPAM IV Kambing Stone, Ampek Nagari District, heavily damaged with funds of Rp. 2.55 billion.

"SPAM is seriously damaged and immediately repaired so that the distribution of clean water runs smoothly to customers," he said.

He said the SPAM was damaged by cold lava floods and landslide material after heavy rainfall hit the area, Saturday (11/5).

With this condition, causing the production pump to be scorched, the distribution pipeline network washed away, the pipeline bridge washed away, the house connection was lost and the water source intake was damaged.

"The distribution of clean water to customers is disrupted and we distribute water to customers using tank cars," he said.

PDAM Tirta Antokan has carried out emergency handling by welcoming broken pipes, carrying out mutual cooperation to clean up landslide materials and others.

After that, propose funds to repair the damaged SPAM to the government.

"Hopefully the government will relocate it, so that the distribution of clean water can run smoothly to customers," he said.
