Head of the Political, Government and Security Division of the National Unity and Political Agency of East Aceh Regency, Samsul Bahri in East Aceh, Friday, said the five Rohingya immigrants were known to have fled Friday, May 24 at around 02.30 WIB.

"They were known to have fled after officers checked the shelter tent. When the officers checked, there were five immigrants who were not in the tent. After being checked as a whole, there were five who fled," said Samsul Bahri.

The five Rohingya immigrants are Rehana Begum (21), Umar Faruk (5), Samira Begum (16), Fatima and Shamjida. The five immigrants are suspected of running away with the help of others,

"We suspect that the five Rohingya immigrants fled from the temporary shelter because of the help of others," said Samsul Bahri.

Previously, as many as 137 Rohingya immigrants landed at Kuala Parek Beach, Sungai Raya, East Aceh Regency, Thursday (1/2) at around 04.00 WIB. They consist of 40 adult boys, 47 adult women, 23 girls and 27 boys.

The hundreds of immigrants left Cox s Bazar, a refugee location in Bangladesh, by riding a wooden boat since December 5, 2023. After floating 55 days at sea, finally as many as 137 immigrants landed at Kuala Parek Beach.
