JAKARTA - The Domestic Policy Strategy Agency (BSKDN) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) asked regions to develop innovations with an approach to observe, imitate, and modify (ATM).
Head of BSKDN Yusharto Huntoyungo said this effort was made to accelerate development in the regions and increase regional competitiveness.
"We are no longer starting [innovation development] from a new era, but we have an ATM strategy, namely observing, elaborating, and modifications from other regions. The note then is to adjust it to the characteristics and needs of each region," said Yusharto quoting Antara.
Regarding the ATM approach, he revealed that his party has the Tuxedovation application which contains various innovation data.
This application can be a reference for regions to grow the innovation ecosystem in their territory more effectively and efficiently.
"Our Tuxedovation has around 14,000 innovation data, some of which can be applied in other areas, (specifically) which are experiencing difficulties due to limited internal resources," he explained.
For the sake of developing innovation with a better ATM approach, Yusharto emphasized that his party is willing to help the local government by providing various forms of assistance.
This starts from training, technical guidance, and the provision of platforms to share knowledge and experiences between regions.
"We are committed to assisting regions in identifying innovations that can be adopted and modified according to the needs of their respective local governments," added Yusharto.
Subsequently, regional innovation development will be focused on areas that are less innovative or that are still predicated cannot be assessed.
Coaching activities are cross-K/L which will be carried out in 5 areas including Medan City, Badung Regency, Kupang City, Jayapura City, and Makassar City.

"The guidance carried out is intended to improve coordination, synchronization, and synergy across ministries and non-ministerial government agencies in order to improve the performance of local government administration," he said.
In addition, Yusharto also invited academics, the private sector, and the community to collaborate in developing regional innovations. This effort is believed to enrich the innovation process and ensure the sustainability of the innovation.
"Regions (need) to coordinate with universities. We hope that cooperation with the Hasanuddin University, for example, will continue to be fostered and improved, so that regions in South Sulawesi Province will benefit from the existence of innovation," he concluded.
