Deputy Minister Of Transportation: Alternative Joglosemar Toll Road To Reduce Congestion In Klaten To Yogyakarta

JAKARTA Deputy Minister of Transportation Suntana said the Joglosemar Toll Road was a strategic alternative to reduce congestion, especially in Klaten to Yogyakarta areas during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year (Nataru) homecoming flows.

This was conveyed after directly reviewing the operation of the Yogyakarta-Solo toll road, which operates functionally, to support community mobility during the Nataru period.

This tool is a strategic alternative to unraveling congestion and accelerating travel between Klaten, Prambanan, and Yogyakarta. The Yogya - Solo toll road for the Prambanan section will start operating functionally from December 20, 2024 to January 2, 2025," he said in an official statement, Sunday, December 29.

Based on data from Jasa Marga recorded during the Nataru period from December 20 to December 28, 2024 at 09.00 WIB, the cumulative number of vehicles crossing the Yogya-Solo Toll Road of the Prambanan section has reached 113,686 vehicles.

The details are the number of vehicles entering through the Prambanan 59,874 toll gate and 53,812 vehicles leaving through the Prambanan toll gate.

Furthermore, Suntana also checks the flow of traffic and inspects the integrated post at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate, Semarang.

He said the results of the evaluation of the implementation of the Christmas holiday, transportation went smoothly and safely, and transportation facilities could be optimized.

"We continue to check and evaluate the implementation of Christmas transportation. Thank God the Christmas holiday period is running safely, transportation facilities can be optimized and several government policies can be implemented," he said.

Suntana also emphasized the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration in managing traffic flow and ensuring the safety of road users during the holiday period.

"Support from the National Police, toll road operators, local governments, and the community is the key to the success of transportation management during Nataru," he said.
