JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari feels aggrieved by the reporting to the Honorary Council of Election Organizers (DKPP) RI regarding the alleged immoral case involving him.

"Frankly, I feel aggrieved. For what reason? These things have not happened to be used as material for complaints at the DKPP, meaning that the trial does not yet exist. The principals (of the complaint) or not being used as material in the trial (still) are not real, but have been conveyed to the public," he said, quoting Antara.

Hasyim referred to the reporting of alleged immoral cases to the Indonesian DKPP on April 18, 2024. He assessed that the attorney for complainants had provided information regarding the main points of the complaint. In fact, he continued, the trial had not yet started.

"Then it spread everywhere as if I had been tried and had committed acts as alleged or the subject of the case," he said.

He then explained that in the trial he had answered the allegations or arguments of the complaint directed at him. He also said that he denied the complaint against the alleged immoral case.

"I deny why? Indeed, it is not in accordance with the real facts. So, there are points or there are many points that are accused of all of my problems, I deny. Not just because I want to argue, (but) because the facts are not like that," he explained.

Meanwhile, he said that he opened the opportunity to report back to the reporter regarding the alleged immoral case.

"Of course broadcasting something that is not true also has a legal accountability mechanism. I think it is also important then the parties who take the action that is categorized as a violation of the law must be legally held accountable," he said.

Based on observations in the field, the first trial of the alleged immoral case was held on Wednesday (22/5) which lasted approximately eight hours or ended at around 17.15 WIB.

Previously, on Thursday, April 18, 2024, the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Hasyim Asy'ari was reported to the DKPP RI by the Legal Aid Consultation Institute and the Choice of Completion of Disputes at the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (LKBH-PPS FH UI) and the Legal Aid Institute of the Indonesian Women's Association for Justice (LBH APIK).

The attorney for victim Maria Diinita Prosperianti explained that the actions of the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Hasyim Asy'ari as a defendant were included in the violation of the code of ethics based on DKPP Regulation Number 2 of 2017 concerning the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct for General Election Organizers.

Maria said that in reporting to the DKPP RI, a number of evidences had been submitted showing violations of the code of ethics by the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU, Hasyim Asy'ari.

He said Hasyim Asy'ari was concerned with his personal interests to satisfy his sexual desires.

"There have been several dozen pieces of evidence, yes, such as screenshots (screenshots) of conversations, photos, and videos, as well as evidence. I have explained earlier, this evidence can show that it is truly structured, systematic, and active, and here is also accused of providing information manipulation and also spreading confidential information to show its power," he said.
