Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka said the frequent pollution of the Bengawan Solo River requires the Governor of Central Java's concern for resolution. "That will be the main concern for the next governor," he said in Solo, Central Java, Antara, Wednesday, May 22. In its resolution, it requires the involvement of areas around the city of Solo, considering that pollution comes from the surrounding industry. "Once again, it needs cooperation with the surrounding districts. It's from Sukoharjo, yes, it's cloth dye," he said. Related to this, his party also plans to follow up, considering that some of the raw water needs of the people of Solo are taken through Bengawan Solo. "We will follow up as soon as possible," he said. Previously, last Tuesday, the Semanggi Solo Water Processing Installation (IPA) stopped operating temporarily due to contamination of ethanol and textile waste. IPA staff Semanggi Purnomo said the water that should have been processed by IPA Semanggi began to be polluted at 11.00 WIB. Meanwhile, operations are stopped starting at 12.00 WIB. "Water is polluted from factory waste in Sukoharjo. Meanwhile, ethanol waste enters from Kali Samin to Bengawan Solo, if textiles are immediately dumped into the Bengawan Solo River," he said.

He said the operation was stopped, because it had an impact on water that did not meet the quality standards.
