KPK Chairman Ogah Tanggapi Ghufron Reports Supervisory Board To Bareskrim Polri

JAKARTA - The interim chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nawawi Pomolango was reluctant to respond to the steps taken by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, who reported the KPK Supervisory Board members to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.

This moment occurred when he was mentioned about Ghufron's resistance which made the public highlight the anti-corruption commission.

"It's better to trade corruption eradication," Nawawi told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, May 22.

Even so, Nawawi admitted that he had never been spoken to by Ghufron regarding his reporting efforts. He only admitted that he knew that KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata had been asked for clarification by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police.

However, Nawawi did not explain what the clarification was related to. "I haven't communicated yet," he said.

"I just found out that Mr. Alexander was asked to clarify. That's all I know," continued Nawawi.

Nawawi made no statement after that. He chose to hurry into the building with several of his aides.

As previously reported, the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, reported the KPK Supervisory Board to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police. This report was made during the alleged ethical violation he committed for helping the transfer of employees at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) is being investigated.

This report was recorded with the number LP/B/138/V/2024/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri on May 6. There were two articles that Ghufron complained about because they were considered violated by the KPK Council in the ethics process that ensnared him, namely Article 310 of the Criminal Code and Article 421 of the Criminal Code.

In addition, Ghufron also took other legal channels, such as suing the KPK Supervisory Board through the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN).

In the end, the ethics trial that only has to read the verdict must be postponed. This is because the Jakarta Administrative Court issued an interim decision ordering the KPK Supervisory Board to postpone the ongoing ethical process.
