Men Mentally Disturbed Using Pisau Berulah In Taiwan Train Carriages, 3 Passengers Injured

JAKARTA - The man using a knife carried out an attack on a train carriage in Taichung City, Taiwan, Tuesday, May 21 morning.

"A group of passengers immediately prevented it while holding the arm and hand of the perpetrator who was still holding a fruit knife," a male witness told reporters at the scene to CNN, Tuesday, May 21.

The Mayor of Taichung, Lu Shiow-yen, said that as many as three passengers were injured and taken to the hospital.

The 20-year-old male suspect with a history of mental health problems carried out this action on the train to Kota Kaohsiung.

"When we arrested him, another man held (the perpetrator)'s hand and took his knife," said another witness.

Several eyewitnesses complained about the slow handling of the attack. He was disappointed by Taiwan's Butub Metro train employee for a long time responding to the attack.

The incident of the knifed man's attack occurred on the tenth anniversary of a similar stabbing incident in Metro Taipei that killed four people and 20 injuries.

The suspect was later executed in 2016 following a quick order from the then justice minister.
