Ukrainian Caucasians Steal IDR 12 Million Jewelry In Canggu Deported

A woman from foreign countries (WNA) from Ukraine with the initials IG (35) was deported by Bali Immigration officers for stealing jewelry in the Canggu area, North Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali.

Head of Denpasar Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim), Gede Dudy Duwita, said the foreigner had violated Article 75 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration in conjunction with Article 362 of the Criminal Code.

"So in this case, immigration carries out immigration administrative sanctions in the form of deportation to foreigners," Duwita said in a written statement, Monday, May 20.

This Ukrainian foreigner came to Bali with his British citizen with the initials VK (9) to enjoy his vacation time. He admitted to entering Indonesia on July 21, 2023 using Visa On Arrival (VoA).

However, a few months later, he got into a problem that made him have to deal with the law.

On October 30, 2023, citing depression for being deceived by the agency regarding the application for visas to the United Kingdom, he was desperate to steal some jewelry at a souvenir shop in the Canggu area.

A number of items that were successfully stolen included silver necklaces along with bracelets, rings, glasses, leather glasses and room fragrance candles. This foreign act caused the shop owner to suffer a loss of Rp 12 million.

Then, after realizing his mistake, he contacted the shop the next day and hoped the shop owner would report himself to the police in order to be immediately deported to Nagara England.

In addition, this foreigner also reported himself to the North Kuta Police, so that he was immediately deported as expected to go to England.

However, when the case he experienced made him have to undergo a legal process which ended in the verdict of four months in prison at the Class IIA Women's Correctional Institution (Lapas) Kerobokan.

Meanwhile, his son was placed outside the prison with an Indonesian citizen (WNI) who was his friend.

Then, after serving his sentence, he was handed over to the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office.

On March 6, Immigration Ngurah Rai, he and his daughter were handed over to the Denpasar Rudenim for temporary detention or temporary security and deportation is sought.

Furthermore, after 74 days he is the Denpasar Rudenim, on Monday (20/5) in the morning Bali Immigration officers conduct deportation via I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport to the United Kingdom, at their own expense.

"The Denpasar Rudenim officers are closely escorted until the person concerned and his daughter enter the plane before leaving Indonesian territory with the final destination of London Gatwick Airport, England. Those concerned who have been deported will be put on the deterrence list to the Directorate General of Immigration," he said.
