Floods In Mahakam Ulu Gradually Recede

SAMARINDA - Floods in Mahakam Ulu Regency, East Kalimantan, since Thursday (16/5) have gradually receded. Floods are still submerging 403 houses and 12 offices with a height of between 1-2 meters.

This flood came from the upstream part of the Mahakam River, especially from the Long Apari River and Boh River due to heavy rains.

"The joint SAR team of East Kalimantan Province for flood management in Mahakam Ulu (Mahulu), this afternoon arrived at the Mahakam Ulu-West Kutai border, so it is estimated that this dusk will arrive in Ujoh Bilang, Mahakam Ulu capital," said Head of East Kalimantan Basarnas Dody Setiawan in Samarinda, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 17.

Temporary data recorded that 403 houses and offices were flooded in Mahulu, namely in Long Bagun Ilir Village with a water level of 1.8 meters, submerging 53 units of residents' houses, in Central Long Bagun Village with a water level of 1.8 meters and submerging 36 housing units.

In Ujoh Bilang Village, it has a height of 2.1-2.5 meters and submerged 98 houses, Batu Majang Village with a height of 1.4 meters and only submerged the yard of the house, Long Melaham Village with a height of 1.7 meters and submerged 62 houses.

In Kampung Memhak Ilir, the water level of 1.6 meters submerged 59 houses, Rukun Damai Village with a height of 1.5 meters which submerged 52 houses, Long Merah Village as high as 1.5 meters which submerged 43 houses.

"Meanwhile, the 12 offices that were also flooded were Koramil 0912-03/Long Bagun, Polsek Long Bagun, PLTD Long Bangun, Dinkes Mahulu, Kantor Camat Long Bagun, Bank BRI, Bankaltimtara, Kantor Pengawas Kampung, and four village offices in Long Bagun District," he said.

Today it was reported that one resident died as a result of the flood, namely on behalf of Miyono (50 years), a shop worker in Sebenaq, Ujoh Bilang Village.
