Elon Musk Will Inaugurate Starlink Installation At Denpasar Bali Health Center

DENPASAR - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan confirmed that Elon Musk would arrive in Bali on Sunday (19/5).

The inauguration of the Starlink installation will be centered on one of the health services (Puskesmas) in Denpasar City, Bali.

"On Sunday he arrived, hopefully there will be no changes. (The location) is already at the Puskesmas in Denpasar," Luhut said in Denpasar, Friday, May 17.

Meanwhile, the Commander of the Joint Defense Region II Command (Pangkogabwilhan II) Marshal Madya (Marsdya) TNI M Khairil Lubis ensured that the escort of Elon Musk's arrival was in accordance with ministerial level procedures.

"Elon Musk is not the head of state, the same as the ministerial level. So the security is the same as the ministerial level. There are no special security because all are treated (equivalent ministers)," he said.

Luhut previously said that the Starlink service would be inaugurated by President Jokowi with Elon Musk on the sidelines of the 10th World Water Forum in Nusa Dua, Bali.

"Elon Musk will inaugurate with President Starlink to facilitate communication in remote areas. This will be done on Sunday (19/5)," he said, Tuesday, May 14.

Regarding Starlink services in Indonesia, Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi some time ago said that the satellite-based internet service provider, Starlink, would reach more areas that had geographical challenges and were untouched by local AJI because of its satellite-based technology, namely the low earth orbit (LEO) satellite.

As for the current status of Starlink's licensing, he said, it has fulfilled an operation-worthy test (ULO) which means that the company owned by businessman Elon Musk already has a permit as a telecommunications organizer in Indonesia.

Budi saidStarlink would not damage the ecosystem owned by local internet service providers (PJI) who had already operated in Indonesia.
