Criticized For Often Using Private Jets, This Is The Defense Of The KPU Chair

Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari explained the reason why his party often rides private jets or private planes when carrying out their duties as election organizers during the 2024 Simultaneous Elections.

Hasyim said that the private jet is a chartered aircraft to facilitate supervision of the distribution of election logistics in various regions.

"If the plane is chartered for logistics monitoring. Our logistics procurement is only 75 days, and the KPU is responsible. If logistics fail, February 14 fail, who will be held accountable?" said Hasyim at the DPR building, parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday 15 May.

Hasyim said that his party had high mobility in the 2024 General Election to oversee the procurement of logistics which was relatively short time. According to him, the private jet made it easier for him to move regions in a short time.

"It's not procurement. It's rent for yesterday's election. Do you know that there are only 75 logistics procurement friends, who doesn't have a heart spot? If it fails, who is accused of failing?" said Hasyim.

Previously, a number of members of Commission II of the DPR had questioned and criticized Hasyim and the ranks of the KPU who often used private jets during the 2024 General Election.

One of them is Member of Commission II of the DPR Democratic faction Rezka Oktogia who questioned the urgency of using private jets by the KPU leadership.
