JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) targets as many as 3,060 national hospitals to implement the Standard Inpatient Class (KRIS) for BPJS Health card holders no later than June 30, 2025.

"I say this, there are 3,176 hospitals (RS) nationally. Those that will be implemented in the KRIS are 3,060 hospitals, while the target is April 30, 2024, there are 2,858 hospitals," said Ministry of Health spokesman Mohammad Syahril as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 15.

Until 2023, said Syahril, the hospital managers who were ready to implement KRIS amounted to 1,216 hospitals. Meanwhile, the achievements of the implementation of KRIS in the same period reached 995 hospitals.

The Ministry of Health through the Directorate General of Health Services is still trying to pursue additional implementations of KRIS this year to reach 2,432 hospitals, from the realization on April 30, 2024 as many as 1,053 hospitals.

"Later in June 2025 we will realize 3,057 hospitals," he said.

Syahril explained that KRIS is the implementation of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 59 of 2024 concerning Health Insurance.

In the Presidential Decree, it is stated that 12 standard criteria for hospitalization services for National Health Insurance (JKN) participants include building quality, lighting, indoor bathrooms, room temperature, and oxygen installation.

"The goal in this Presidential Regulation is to ensure equal treatment, which is good for all BPJS participants, so KRIS is issued," he said.

The standardization of inpatient services, said Syahril, was motivated by the inequality of facilities and infrastructure received by BPJS Health cardholders when receiving services.

For example, said Syahril, many hospitals in collaboration with BPJS Kesehatan still accommodate five to eight patients, while the provisions of the Decree of the Director General of Health Services stipulate a maximum of four treatment beds with 12 service criteria.

"Why only four? To ensure quality, safety, and various things, so that our society feels comfortable. Now, some in the field are constrained," he said.
