Mas Anies, PKS Prioritizes Self-Cadres To Advance DKI Jakarta Gubernatorial Election

JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has again stated that it will prioritize its own cadres to be promoted as candidates for governor of DKI Jakarta in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada.

Even so, PKS still respects Anies Baswedan, who has opened up opportunities for advancing in the DKI gubernatorial election.

"We certainly appreciate that Mas Anies has made a decision and maybe there will be a meeting with PKS. But until there is an official decision, PKS certainly prioritizes its own cadres," said PKS DPP chairman Mardani Ali Sera at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, May 15. Moreover, continued Mardani, PKS managed to gain victory in the 2024 Legislative Election. So that PKS will establish communication with other political parties to jointly discuss the names of the best candidates to be promoted. "DKI because PKS wins, of course PKS wants the best candidate, and again communication has been carried out, we need to form a coalition and cadres are prioritized," explained Mardani. "But politics is dynamic, DPP and DPW friends are working together in the near future there will be an explanation. Because however, they need tickets," he continued.

Mardani believes that communication with sharing political parties will be smooth and good. Nevertheless, he emphasized that PKS did not want to rush to decide about the DKI Pilkada.

"The registration is also (new) August 27-29. So PKS will continue to communicate, maybe the offer has not been interesting, maybe it hasn't been met, maybe it's not yet a friendship. (But) I'm sure PKS will run together with parties that are ready because someone has met, there have been negotiations, someone has already talked with PKS," he concluded. Previously, Anies Baswedan opened up opportunities to run in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada, after losing in the 2024 presidential election yesterday. Anies mentioned his opportunity in the Jakarta Pilgub as long as he received support, because he admitted that he had only served one period in Jakarta.

"Yesterday I was in Jakarta carrying out my duties for 5 years, and I was not allowed to do more than 2 terms, meaning I only did one period, I was able to do a second period," Anies Baswedan said in a television broadcast, Thursday, April 25.

"This is one option if there is a call from the public, what can propose is political parties and society, then it will be considered," he continued.
