Ghufron After The Ethics Trial Related To Authority Abuse: Next Week It's Over, Faster Than Estimated

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nurul Ghufron claimed that the KPK Supervisory Board would immediately decide his fate on the week.

This was conveyed by Ghufron after undergoing an ethics trial today, Tuesday, May 14. He was tried for allegedly abusing his authority as the head of the anti-graft commission for contacting the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) to discuss the mutation of an employee.

"I think this will be faster than expected. Maybe next week it will be finished," Ghufron told reporters at the ACLC KPK building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Tuesday, May 14.

Ghufron explained that the trial he had just held had also heard statements from witnesses. "There were six people present by the KPK Supervisory Board," he said.

"Earlier it was held in a marathon because if I'm not mistaken there were six witnesses who had been presented," he said.

Ghufron left his fate to the hands of the KPK Supervisory Board. "I welcome this process and of course we respect the trial process," he said.

"I think the material things can be asked to members of the KPK Council. I can't tell the material, once again I will respect, carry out the process of proving this trial until it is decided by the Council. I think so," continued Ghufron.

As previously reported, the KPK Supervisory Board decided to try the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nurul Ghufron, for allegedly abusing his authority. He is suspected of dealing with the mutation of an employee of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).

In this alleged ethical violation, the KPK Supervisory Board has pocketed a number of evidences. Including information from related parties, such as former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

The trial on Tuesday, May 14 was carried out after the KPK Council postponed because Ghufron was not present on Thursday, May 2. The reason is that he is filing a lawsuit with the State Administrative Court (PTUN) because he feels that his ethical violation has expired.
