JABAR - Police arrested two perpetrators of theft of money mode of selling ATM card machines in Tasikmalaya City, West Java (West Java). Both of them are a gang.

"Two suspects have been arrested," said Tasikmalaya City Police Chief AKBP Joko Sulistiono during a press conference on the disclosure of the ATM reward case to steal money in Tasikmalaya City, Monday, May 13, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said the police arrested the suspects with the initials AS, a resident of Lampung, and ZM, a Tangerang resident who was arrested after carrying out his actions in Tasikmalaya City, Friday, May 3.

Their action began when the victim, a woman, was about to take money at the ATM machine at the RE Marthadinata gas station, Tasikmalaya, but there was an obstacle not being able to enter her ATM card.

"According to the victim's statement at that time, it was difficult to enter the ATM card, then the perpetrator came to offer himself to help," he said.

The whereabouts of the perpetrator, he said, were not helping but exchanging a similar ATM card that had been prepared by the previous perpetrator, then the victim entered an ATM card and succeeded, while the perpetrator was about to peek at his PIN number.

However, the victim realized that his ATM card had been exchanged and then chased the perpetrator, then asked the local community for help, resulting in a chase against the perpetrator.

"The victim realized that his ATM card had changed, then chased the suspects and asked residents for help, the suspect who had fled using a four-wheeled vehicle was arrested in the Ciamis area," said the Police Chief.

He conveyed that the three known perpetrators were arrested by two people, one person managed to escape and was on the Cisikmalaya City Police wanted list.

In addition to securing the perpetrators, he said, the police also confiscated evidence (barbuk) in the form of 21 ATM cards of various banking names, then stabbed teeth, scissors, and cars used by the perpetrators to carry out their actions.

"We secured a number of evidences including 21 ATM cards of various types, two dental stabs, one scissors, one car and other evidence," said the Police Chief.

The suspect, who is known to have committed the crime in other areas, was finally arrested and detained at the Tasikmalaya City Police Headquarters for further legal examination, and charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a threat of seven years in prison.

The police chief appealed to the public to always be vigilant and not easily believe in other people who suddenly offer assistance while in an ATM.

"If you are going to make transactions at an ATM, it is not easy to trust other people, and it is recommended to coordinate with the relevant bank if there are obstacles," he said.
