PKS Accuses NasDem Of Manipulating Data In Order To Get A Second Seat In The South Sumatra 2 Electoral District

The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) said the NasDem Party had manipulated data in order to get a second seat for candidates for the Regional House of Representatives for the Election of South Sumatra 2 which was brought to trial at the Constitutional Court.

This statement was conveyed by PKS' attorney, Martadinata, when giving a statement for case Number 275-01-05-06/PHPU.DPR-DPRD-XXII/2024 in a panel session of three cases of Election Result Dispute (PHPU) for Legislative Election 2024 at the Constitutional Court Building, Jakarta, Monday, May 13.

Valid as the applicant is the NasDem Party, as the respondent party is the KPU, and as the related party is PKS.

Initially, the NasDem Party argued that there were 4,602 PKS votes added.

In his petition, the NasDem Party stated that PKS votes according to the KPU were 138,668 votes, while according to the NasDem tally, PKS votes were 134,066.

However, PKS in his statement denied the allegation and stated that the argument was not true and was not legally based.

Martadinata said as many as 138,668 votes were obtained by the party based on the results of the calculation of tiered recapitulation.

He emphasized that the NasDem Party witness did not object to the tiered recapitulation process from the sub-district, district/city, to the province levels.

He also said that the KPU had indeed corrected the data as argued by NasDem. This correction is a form of data correction that is not in accordance with what the witness and committee have.

After conducting data cross-sections by his party, it was found that data corrections did not only occur to PKS, but also to the entire party, including the NasDem Party.

He questioned the reason why NasDem only questioned PKS's voice. According to him, this was NasDem's attempt to get a second seat because the number of seats in the electoral district was only nine seats, while PKS was in 9th position and the votes of the two NasDem Party were in 10th position.

"Why does the Petitioner only question the votes acquired by the Related Party? Because by questioning the votes of the Related Party and displaying manipulative data, that's how the Petitioner can get a seat for the second South Sumatra electoral district 2. If it's not manipulative, it can't," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

Based on this description, PKS asked the Constitutional Court to state that it rejected Nasdem's application during the membership of the South Sumatra 2 electoral district house because the application was not legally based.
