Floods Soak 706 Houses In Kubu Raya West Kalimantan, 2,396 Affected People

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded as many as 2,396 flood-affected people in Ambawang District, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan Province (West Kalimantan). "Noted by BPBD, there were 706 houses that were flooded and 2,396 affected people, not only public facilities namely prayer rooms and churches as well as one Islamic boarding school which were also flooded," said Head of BPBD Kubu Raya Heri Purwoko in Sungai Raya, West Kalimantan, Monday, May 13. He said floods occurred in two villages located in Sungai Ambawang, namely Pasak Piang Village and Mega Timur Village, and from the results of data collection in the field there were four hamlets in Pasak Piang Village that experienced the worst flooding, namely Kalimantan Hamlet, Belitak, Banyu Ates, and Sungai Piang, which resulted in 28 families being forced to evacuate. There are 28 heads of families in Kalimantan Hamlet, Pasak Piang Village, Sungai Ambawang District whose houses were heavily displaced by relatives, "he also said that until now the flood conditions are still submerging Pasak Piang Village due to high-intensity rains that occurred in the last few days in the area. In addition, in Mega Timur village, there will also be floods if high-intensity rainfall and Kapuas River water are high, then flooding in the area is inevitable. His party also collects data collection on flood victims in order to provide assistance from the Kubu Raya Regency Government and the West Kalimantan Provincial Government. "The directives from the Acting Regent and Regional Secretary also ask us to immediately make a report, so that damaged houses are affected by tornadoes and floods will immediately get assistance from the Government," he said.

He appealed to the public to be vigilant in the rainy season, especially extreme weather, and immediately inform the Village Government or the Police if they are affected by natural events. Heri said that his party had coordinated with the West Kalimantan Provincial Social Service to follow up on this.
