PDIP Opens Option To Install Cadres With Candidates From PKS In DKI Pilgub

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta PDIP Regional Leadership Council (DPD) said that it began to look at PKS cadres to be paired with party cadres in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Governor and Deputy Governor Election (Pilgub).

Head of the DPD PDIP DPD DKI Jakarta Education and Training Agency, Gilbert Simanjuntak, said that the option of forming a coalition with PKS and pairing its cadres was more supportive of the current winning strategy of the DKI Jakarta Pilkada than carrying Anies Baswedan.

"Other candidates from PKS are actually interesting to pair with candidates from the PDI-P, because the candidate is encouraged by the party, will sell more," Gilbert told reporters, Monday, May 13.

Gilbert made this statement and responded to the PDIP's opportunity to pair Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) with Anies in the 2024 DKI gubernatorial election.

Gilbert is worried that PDIP will find it difficult to collaborate with other political parties to form a coalition to carry his cagub-cawagub choices if they cooperate with Anies.

"Bung Anies will run through what party? In the past (2017 regional head) PKS, Gerindra. Now Nasdem presidential candidate, PKS, PKB. Then where will the cagub pass?" he said.

Gilbert also realized that Ahok and Anies' supporting bases were very different. This can be seen from the competition between the two figures in the 2017 DKI Pilkada.

That is why the PDIP Central Executive Board (DPP) needs to consider more if it wants to pair Ahok and Anies.

"The opportunity certainly exists, but the attitude of the two also affects. The decision will also be influenced by this attitude and listen to grassroots opinions," said Gilbert.

"I believe the DPP will make the best decision. But both come from far different grassroots. Of course, voices can support or eliminate each other," he continued.
