Two Youths Stabbing Police In Makassar Surrendered After Buron

JAKARTA - Two youths who slashed a member of the National Police named Ipda Bahrun finally surrendered after committing their actions on May 8, 2024 at the Makassar Police Office, South Sulawesi.

"The perpetrator turned himself in at the Makassar Polrestabes, then the members headed to the Resort Police and arrested two male perpetrators with the initials P and H aged 18 years. They were then taken to the Jatanras Command Post for interrogation," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Makassar Polrestabes Kompol Devi Sujana to Antara, Friday.

From the results of the interrogation by members of Jatanras, the two perpetrators admitted that they had cut members of the National Police who were carrying out security duties in their working area, Manggala District.

"We have handed over the two perpetrators to the Manggala Police for further processing of their actions," the former Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bandar Lampung Police added.

Perpetrator H admitted and confirmed that he had participated when he wanted to carry out the attack by riding the perpetrator P. He also gave information that he saw his colleague carrying a sharp machete when carrying out an attack on a member of the National Police.

The perpetrators are subject to Article 351 of the Criminal Code paragraph 1 concerning persecution with a maximum imprisonment of 2 years and 8 months or imprisonment. If the act results in serious injuries, the maximum imprisonment is threatened with five years

Confirmed separately, the victim Ipda Bahrun told the incident that happened to him at that time. The incident occurred on May 8, 2024 at around 05.00 WITA.

At that time, he received news from his colleague Ipda H Hamsir who was serving to maintain the Kamtibmas situation at Aditaria Borong Housing asking for help because there were a number of youths pacing around the local complex, allegedly planning to carry out the attack.

"It has been several nights that we have guarded the location, there has even been an order from the Sector Police Chief by forming three teams. Every night six people stand by. At that time, someone was using a big motorbike, my friend suspected what was wrong until dawn pacing back and forth near the complex," he said.

Feeling suspicious, his colleague approached the youths and intercepted his motorbike to ask what their needs were because they had been back and forth three times. When intercepted, the perpetrator then fled leaving his motorbike around the location.

"So Mr. Haji Hamsir called me that there was a motorbike at the location, in Bitoa. When we arrived at the location, we were waiting for who owned the motorbike. However, there was no one. Then Pak Hamsir and I went out looking, on the highway there were people going to the bow, the perpetrator was hiding next to a black car parked," he said.

Based on witness information, together with his colleagues, they docked with the parked car to check whether the perpetrator was at the place, but unfortunately when examined, the perpetrator swung a sharp weapon at the victim but was blocked using his left hand.

"I don't know what it was like to be slashed, because it was dark, so I was bad. I grabbed the clothes, it was a child but it was released, and Pak Hamsir chased it but couldn't. When I returned to my motorbike, it was bleeding and then taken to the Puskesmas. It turned out that there was a broken vein, so it was referred to the Hermina hospital," said Bahrun, who served in the Intelkam Unit of the Manggala Police.

After receiving treatment at a local hospital, the victim then returned home. Some time information was obtained that the evidence used by the perpetrator slashed himself in the form of a machete, members were found at the scene and the perpetrator surrendered. Currently the victim is back in service.

According to the perpetrator's confession, he had an argument with his girlfriend who lives in the local complex and there was another group of youths who did not want their relationship, so that for several nights they were guarded to prevent a brawl.
