JAKARTA - The Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP) plans to create a representative office in the regions to reduce the number of violations of the Election Organizer Code of Ethics (KEPP).

Chairman of the DKPP Heddy Lugito said that so far the offices of representatives of West Sumatra and Papua Provinces have not been separated, even though Papua is included in one of the provinces with the highest number of complaints in 2024.

"There are still major ethical violations. Therefore, in the future the DKPP plans to create a representative office," said Heddy in Jakarta, Wednesday, May 8, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, this plan has been repeatedly submitted. However, it has not been realized, because it makes the representative office have to change the president's regulation.

He also mentioned several areas where the DKPP representative offices will be built, namely Papua, Central Kalimantan, Sumatra and Java.

Heddy explained the reason why DKPP prepared a representative office in Java, because his party would move to the State Capital (IKN) Nusantara.

"So, hopefully this will be realized soon, so that DKPP can provide more optimal service to the public," he said.

In addition, the existence of representative offices in the regions has prevented parties in Papua from holding trials in Java. Likewise, parties in central Indonesia can hold trials around Banjarmasin or Palangkaraya.

Then, in western Indonesia, you can hold a trial in Medan. Then, for Java, you can also choose to convene in Jakarta or Surabaya.

Meanwhile, DKPP has made academic studies to budget drafts to open representative offices in the regions. Not only that, Heddy said the plan had been submitted to the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian.

"Currently the DKPP Secretariat is still under the Ministry of Home Affairs, so everything related to the secretariat must be submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs, this situation is different from the KPU and Bawaslu whose secretariat is already independent," concluded Heddy.

It is known, DKPP received complaints of alleged violations of the Election Organizer Code of Ethics (KEPP) as many as 233 complaints from January to May 7, 2024.

Of the 233 complaints received throughout 2024, around 90 complaints have been processed. Then, 13 cases have been decided and 77 cases are in the process of being investigated.

The five provinces with the most complaints, namely North Sumatra 21 complaints; West Java 17 complaints, Papua Mountains 15 complaints; Central Papua 14 complaints and South Sumatra 12 complaints.
