JAKARTA - Two victims who were trapped by a landslide in Kelok Bento Panorama Dua, Indarung Village, Lubuk Kilangan District, Padang City, were found safe.

Head of BNPB Disaster Data and Communication Center Abdul Muhari said the two residents were previously reported missing after the landslide that occurred on Tuesday, May 7.

"Two motorbike riders who were victims were trapped by avalanche material at the location, before the joint SAR team found and evacuated them," said Abdul Muhari in his statement, Wednesday, May 8.

In order to deal with landslides, the joint team deployed three heavy equipment to evacuate and search for missing victims and clean up avalanche materials that closed the road.

The landslide disaster previously caused the Padang-Solok Road access to be impassable from both directions. The road access is covered with avalanche material which is 70 meters long with a width of 16 meters, and the material height is about 2 meters.

"The Padang-Solok road access, which was covered by landslides, can now be passed again," said Abdul Muhari.

The BNPB Control and Operations Center (Pusdalops) noted that the landslide incident that occurred at 13:53 WIB occurred due to heavy rainfall in the Padang City area.

BNPB urges local residents to remain vigilant, especially those who want to travel following the potential for heavy rain in the West Sumatra Province, especially in Padang City, which is estimated to still occur.
