MPR Chair Regarding The Presidential Club: If Mr. Prabowo Is Able To Unite, It's Extraordinary

JAKARTA - Chairman of the MPR Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet) responded to the idea of establishing a presidential club or the presidential club initiated by the elected President, Prabowo Subianto, which was considered difficult to materialize because of the relationship between the 5th President Megawati Soekarnoputri and the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).

According to Bamsoet, it is Prabowo's challenge to re-glue Megawati and SBY's relationship which is seen as less harmonious. If successful, he said, Prabowo means being able to do extraordinary things for national unity.

"In fact, that is a challenge that we must solve. Because this nation is how we unite various differences in attitude in a forum called the presidential club," Bamsoet told reporters, Tuesday, May 7.

"In fact, Pak Prabowo will be able to unite this very extraordinary for our nation. Because this will also touch down, if we go up to see that it is compact, it will also be compact," he added.

Bamsoet admitted that he had heard the idea of the presidential club since 2019. According to him, Prabowo's idea was a good thing to bring together and feed the previous presidents and vice presidents in a forum.

"It is hoped that it will become communication when we talk about national issues in the future. In fact, if we can be formalized, we once had an institution of the Supreme Advisory Council, which could be filled by former presidents and vice presidents. If you want to be formalized, if Mr. Prabowo agrees," said Bamsoet.

"But if it's just a place to gather for the presidential club like the one in America, that's good, good. This means, however, with various experiences of the presidents, there is one term, there are also two terms like Pak SBY, Mr. Jokowi yes, Mrs. Mega, this is important to see in the future how we can deal with the problem of this nation. we can deal with it. we can solve it in mutual cooperation," he concluded.
