Indonesian Air Force Kopasgat Prepares World Water Forum Security Forces In Bali

JAKARTA - Battalion Command 464 of the Indonesian Air Force's Quick Action Forces Command (Kopasgat) makes preparations for troops and defense equipment checks ahead of securing the World Water Forum (WWF) activities held in Bali.

In an apple photo uploaded to the official Instagram account @Kopasgat_tniau, the personnel and equipment readiness examination was carried out directly by the Commander of the Kopasgat 464 Command Battalion, Lt. Col. Pas Puthut, in an apple held in Malang, East Java, Friday (3/5).

Puthut said this readiness check was carried out to ensure that its troops were ready to maintain WWF activities which would be held from May 18-25.

"The check is not just a formality but a form of commitment before carrying out the task," said Puthut as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 6.

In the apple, Puthut also appealed to all troops to find out in detail their respective duties and responsibilities during their guard.

Coordination between the team and personnel, continued Puthut, must also be improved internally by its troops. Not only that, he also appealed to all his staff to remain humane and serve the residents and all invited guests who attended the international event.

With all the preparations and directions he gave to his personnel, he hoped that the security carried out by Kopasgat members could run smoothly.

"Success and success not only have an impact on the reputation of security officers, especially Kopasgat's reputation but the reputation of the Indonesian nation in the international arena," he said.

Previously, the TNI Headquarters would deploy 12,000 special personnel to maintain the running of WWF activities in Bali.

"They are tasked with securing and handling health there," said Head of the Indonesian Armed Forces Information Center (Kapuspen) Major General TNI Nugraha Gumilar when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta, Monday (29/4).

Gumilar explained that WWF activities will take place from 18 to 25 May 2024. Its own personnel began to carry out security at the location one week before the event took place.

This is done so that the personnel can carry out monitoring and mapping of locations that must be closely guarded.

Gumilar continued that his party did not only carry out ground security but also in the airspace and sea around the Island of the Gods. "Our KRI has deployed it in the Bali Strait and Lombok Strait," he said.

Not only focusing on security, the TNI will also provide several aircraft fleets to evacuate in the event of a natural disaster during WWF.

"For preparation, if there is an evacuation, there will be a natural disaster or eruption of Mount Agung, we will prepare aircraft for evacuation there as well," he said.

Not to forget, health workers are also provided by the TNI to anticipate casualties from natural disasters that occur in Bali.

WWF is an international forum that involves a number of stakeholders in the water resources sector, ranging from the government, parliament, political leaders, multilateral institutions, politicians, academics, civil society, to business actors.

The 10th WWF carries the theme "Water for Joint Welfare" and will discuss several subthemes, namely water security and well-being; water for humans and nature; reduction and management of disaster risk; governance, cooperation, and water diplomacy; sustainable water financing, and knowledge and innovation.
