OPM Spreads Terror In Churches And Housing, No Casualties

TIMIKA - An armed criminal group (KKB) or the Free Papua Organization (OPM) is back in action in Papua. This time the KKB spread terror in a church and housing. First, the KKB raided worship activities at a church in Borme District, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua Mountains, Sunday 5 May 2024.

In the action, the KKB took away the property belonging to the congregation. There were no casualties from this KKB action.

"Four KKBs carrying firearms suddenly came to the church and threatened the congregation who was attending the morning service. They threatened and confiscated electronic goods belonging to the congregation who were worshiping," said Head of the Cartenz Peace Operations Public Relations Task Force AKBP Bayu Suseno in a written statement, Monday 6 May.

The goods confiscated by the KKB were cellphones belonging to the congregation named David Korwa and Ferdian Rumansara. Both are health workers at the Borne Health Center.

Not only that, one laptop unit belonging to the Head of the Borme Health Center, Andi Wisal, was also not spared by the KKB.

The KKB terror continued by entering the school housing complex to make the teachers frightened and fled towards the forest to hide.

"Until now, we have not received any reports of casualties from the incident," said Bayu.

Meanwhile, health workers who are also church congregations who are victims of confiscation by the KKB are currently securing themselves at the house of the head of the Bore District Health Center.
