JAKARTA - The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in Badung Regency, Bali, deported a foreign national (WNA) from Australia with the initials MJF who abused a taxi driver.

"We have been deported and their names will be proposed to be included in the shallow list," said Ngurah Rai Immigration Office Head Suhendra in Badung, Bali, Sunday.

He explained that the 25-year-old man was repatriated to Australia after being transferred from the Kuta Police, which is part of the jurisdiction of the Denpasar City Police (Polresta).

Suhendra said that based on immigration regulations, MJF was subject to Article 75 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 6 Year 2011 concerning Immigration, so that it was deported and proposed to be included in the list of deterrence from entering Indonesian territory.

Based on immigration crossing data, MJF entered Indonesian territory on April 18, 2024 through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport using Visa on Arrival (VOA) and has a residence permit valid until May 17, 2024.

The deportation began when MJF took care of the police for molesting a taxi driver in the Kuta parking central area on Sunday (21/4) at around 22.05 WITA.

He explained that after undergoing the legal process at the Kuta Police, which was completed by restorative justice, on Thursday (2/5) the MJF was then handed over by the Kuta Police to Immigration Ngurah Rai to undergo the deportation process.

Previously, the Head of the Kuta Sector Police, Police Commissioner I Ketut Agus Pasek Sudina in Badung, Saturday, said the Australian was arrested at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport when he was about to flee to his country on Friday (26/4) night.

"With the help of Avsec (airport security) and Immigration officers at Ngurah Rai International Airport, officers managed to secure the perpetrators," he said, quoted by Antara.

Agus explained that at that time the victim Putu Arsana, a driver from Buleleng Regency, Bali, was initially taking guests to the hotel.

While driving a car at the scene, the victim saw a fellow foreigner involved in a commotion that caused the road access to be closed and blocked the victim's car from passing.

"The perpetrator suddenly hit the side glass of the victim's car until finally the victim got out of the car intending to ask the perpetrator for the reason of hitting the car window, but the victim was instead abused by the perpetrator," said Agus.

According to the victim's statement, the perpetrator hit five times on the head, shoulders, neck, and back until the victim suffered injuries. The victim then reported the incident to the Kuta Police on Tuesday (23/4)

Based on the report, the Kuta Police Criminal Investigation Unit conducted an investigation into the whereabouts of the perpetrators until Saturday (26/4), the team received information that the perpetrator and his partner were at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport about to return to their country Australia.

The perpetrators of MJF were also arrested and secured at the Kuta Police for questioning.

After being interrogated, the perpetrator admitted that he had abused the victim and reasoned that he had done this because he was influenced by consuming alcohol.
