PKB Gives A Signal Not To Support Khofifah-Emil Dardak In The 2024 East Java Gubernatorial Election

JAKARTA - The National Awakening Party (PKB) gave a signal that it would not support the Khofifah Indar Parawansa-Emil Dardak pair in the 2024 East Java (East Java) gubernatorial election. The signal strengthened after the Deputy PKB Deputy, Jazilul Fawaid said Khofifah could advance from other parties.

Jazilul's statement was delivered in response to Emir Dardak's statement that he would return to a duet with Khofifah as the incumbent of the upcoming East Java gubernatorial election battle.

Jazilul initially said that PKB was still working on a number of names to be nominated as governors or deputy governors of East Java. Not only East Java, he said, PKB is also still calculating the potential names to be advanced in the Pilkada of Central Java and Jakarta.

"Yes, PKB is still working on it, it has not yet been decided. Wait for it to be conveyed to the public who will be the governor candidate, including the governor of East Java," said Jazilul, Thursday, May 2.

Jazilul admitted that Khofifah and Emil Dardak had a great opportunity to return to serving as governor and deputy governor of East Java.

"Obviously they are competent, both have a great opportunity to win," he said.

Even so, Jazilul was reluctant to confirm that PKB would support Khofifah in the 2024 East Java gubernatorial election. According to him, Khofifah can still be nominated by other political parties.

"There can still be many other parties," he said.

Previously, Emil Dardak stated that he would return to a duet with Khofifah Indar Parawansa in the 2024 East Java gubernatorial election. According to him, the Democratic Party has given the madat.

"God willing, our efforts and the mandate given by the Democratic Party are to accompany Mrs. Khofifah, so that she can return to be governor of East Java for the period 2025-2029," Emil said in Jakarta, quoted Thursday, May 2.

The Democratic Party has also communicated with the Gerindra Party, the Golkar Party and the National Mandate Party (PAN). The three agreed to carry the Khofifah-Emil pair in the 2024 East Java gubernatorial election.

"So the Democrats have certainly conveyed to continue the format for Khofifah-Emil. We have discussions with Golkar, with Gerindra, with PAN of course who have provided official support," he said.
