Masses Of Demonstrations Commemorating Labor Day, Bali Police Alert 575 Members

DENPASAR - A number of masses held a demonstration at the moment of International Labor Day (May Day) 2024 on Wednesday, May 1. In anticipation of security, the Bali Police Chief prepared 575 personnel in the field.

Head of the Bali Police's Professional and Security Division, Police Commissioner I Ketut Agus Kusmayadi, in his direction at the Regional Police Headquarters, Bali, said the deployment of the personnel was to ensure a conducive situation during the 2024 Labor Day demonstration in front of the Bali Governor's Office, quoted from ANTARA.

Agus said May 1 was an International Labor Day that had become a kamtibmas calendar for the ranks of the National Police and an annual agenda for workers throughout Indonesia and even the world to call for their aspirations to the government.

However, in May Day commemoration, it is not uncommon for workers to criticize government policies, especially those related to workers' rights and welfare, through demonstrations targeting government offices or agencies.

To anticipate this, the Bali Police deployed hundreds of personnel to secure the action of the workers.

Separately, the Head of Public Relations of the Bali Regional Police, Kombes Police Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, explained that 575 Bali Police personnel were alerted to secure the commemoration of Labor Day in all jurisdictions of the Bali Police.

"In addition, we have prepared 520 personnel from Denpasar Police, Bali Police Mobile Brigade Unit and Bali Police Ditsamapta Personnel who have been on standby since morning in Renon to secure the 2024 Labor Day demonstration," said Jansen.

The former Denpasar Police Chief also appealed to the action participants to maintain public order and security during the demonstration.

"Our appeal is for those who wish to express their opinion, please do it safely, peacefully, and in an orderly manner, respect each other, carry out activities in public places and we are ready to carry out security and escort," he said.
