Riau Police Arrest 4 Cases Of Ownership Of Firearms

The Riau Regional Police's Criminal Investigation Directorate (Polda) has arrested four men in Pekanbaru for possession of firearms (senpi) without having the authority to do so, based on information received from the public.

Direktur Ditreskrimum Polda Riau Kombes Asep Darmawan menjelaskan kasus ini berawal saat pihaknya meringkus GF di Sri Meranti, Rumbai, 18 April lalu. Masyarakat sekitar kecepat mengetahui ada seseorang yang menyimpan senjata api padahal ia tak memiliki izin atas kepemilikan tersebut.

"From the results of the arrest, it was found that 9 millimeter caliber FN firearms, 5.5 mm caliber live ammunition, 1 7.6 mm, magazine and one cell phone unit," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 30.

Based on the results of the interrogation, GF stated that the weapon did not belong to him and only entrusted him with the initials B. However, B is still being searched, while GF has been detained.

A week after the arrest, his party again secured three men suspected of selling firearms at a hotel on Jalan Kuantan Raya, Pekanbaru, Saturday (27/4). At that place, SA, who is the owner of a firearm and two intermediaries with the initials ES and EE, was arrested.

"The search results found a 9 mm FN firearm, 30 5.5 mm caliber bullets and one cell phone," said Asep.

Based on the interrogation process, the perpetrator admitted that he would sell the firearms for around Rp. 10 million. From SA's statement, he had the firearm for one year.
