The East Aceh Police, Aceh Province, arrested a father with the initials HA for allegedly not supporting his son after divorcing his wife. HA was arrested at the fish auction site (TPI) of East Aceh Regency. Head of the East Aceh Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Iptu Muhammad Rizal, said the perpetrator HA (44) was a resident of Teupin Batee Village, Idi Rayeuk District. "HA was arrested last Monday at around 17.30 WIB. HA's arrest was based on the report of SA, HA's ex-wife, a resident of Matang Baloy Village, Tanah Luas District, North Aceh Regency," said Muhammad Rizal in East Aceh, Antara, Tuesday, April 30. Muhammad Rizal said HA and SA were married at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) Idi Rayeuk District, East Aceh Regency, in 1998. From this marriage, the couple was blessed with four children. However, they divorced in 2018 after their household was no longer harmonious. From the divorce, HA is obliged to provide a living for his son. However, HA only gave support to his children for a few months. After that until now, HA did not give his children any more living. "From the results of the investigation, information was obtained that HA was at TPI Idi. Then, the team moved to the TPI and arrested him. Now, HA is being secured at the East Aceh Police," he said. Investigators suspect HA violated Article 76B sub-Article 77B of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2014 concerning amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning child protection.

"The threat is five years in prison or a fine of Rp. 100 million. From his confession, HA said he did not support his children for four years," said Muhammad Rizal.
